Dr. Joe Pouzar
Dr. Joe Pouzar has lived in Houston since he was five years old.
He has spent his career caring for the community he grew up in. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston in 1983. He attended Baylor Medical School and then completed his Family Medicine residency in Waco through the McLennan County Medical Education and Research Foundation. In 1990, he and his wife, Dr. Linda Pouzar, opened Clear Lake Family Physicians, LLP, and spent more than 25 years building lasting relationships with local families.
Beyond patient care, Dr. Pouzar has a strong interest in clinical research. As a Principal Investigator with Elevate Clinical Research, he has led more than 150 clinical trials, helping to bring new treatment options to patients. Outside the clinic, Dr. Pouzar is an accomplished musician. He plays trumpet and accordion, performs with his church orchestra, and has appeared several times as a soloist with the Clear Lake Symphony. He also enjoys reading, travel, hiking, and long walks with his two dogs, Nugget and Chase. He and Linda have been married since 1986.
Dr. Linda Pouzar
Dr. Linda Pouzar is proud to live in the same community she serves. She studied biomedical engineering as an undergraduate, which gives her a real appreciation for the NASA scientists, engineers and aerospace professionals who call Clear Lake home. She understands how they approach problems and enjoys helping them with their healthcare needs.
Dr. Pouzar earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, where the Texas Medical Center gave her strong clinical training. It's also where she met her husband, Dr. Joe Pouzar. The couple completed their Family Medicine residency in Waco through the McLennan County Medical Education and Research Foundation. On August 1, 1990, they opened Clear Lake Family Physicians, LLP, and cared for generations of local families over the next 25 years.
Dr. Pouzar likes to say she wants to be "the rock that grows moss on it while watching the world go by." She believes every patient deserves a physician who knows them well and advocates for them. After 11 years in corporate clinic settings, she is delighted to come full circle and bring Empower Health to the community she has long called home.
